Ashtamangala New Year Concert - Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino - 13th January 2014

Renowned musicians and sound practitioners Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino have created a wonderful concert to celebrate and invoke blessings for the New Year.
Using Tibetan singing bowls, Mongolian Khöömii overtone and undertone singing, mantra, symphonic gongs, conch shells, damaru, shawm, tingshaw, Tibetan bells, and shaman drums will invoke an ancient Mongolian ritual blessing in conjunction with the Eight Auspicious Symbols from their latest CD Ashtamangala.
Michael Ormiston is the UK’s most experienced Mongolian Khöömii overtone singer. He has been travelling to Mongolia since 1993 where he was initiated into the sacred & secular aspects of this amazing way of connecting to the power of the voice by the senior keeper of the Mongolian tradition,Tserendavaa.

Candida Valentino is the only British woman to perform Khargyraa, an undertone style of singing that has strong connections with shamanistic practices of Mongolia and Tuva.
